Default KDE4: position of application launcher on the panel

The Application Launcher (Menu button) disappeared from the panel in Suse 11.0 KDE4.1.2 44.2 so I re-added it. But It's at the right hand end. How do I move it back to the Left hand end of the panel?

    Thanks

    Unlock the widgets
Right click, I think, I'm in kde3 at the moment so can't check
    then choose move

I have not tried this recently, but earlier it was a right pain.

If you click on the symbol on the far right it lets you move things

    I just checked
Once you unlock click the corner peanut shape thing as geoffro said
move over the item you want to move, left click and move it, then up and away to lock all again

An explanation and links to videos showing how to move applets on the panel are on KDE's UserBase:

Yeah, and probably in 4.1.3, they'll give us a way to re-expose it?

[No wonder the KDE4 devos take such flak.]

THINK they'd use the same shortcut to re-expose it as KDE3?

[No, that would be copying...we have a new (secret) way!]

So, anyone know how (a keyboard-shortcut?) to re-expose it?

[A normal human would have thought they would popup a brief hint how
to re-expose it when you enable hiding. But, they don't cater to
    normal humans.]

Very weird...works on my desktop mach(ATI), but not on the laptop(intel)...once
I chose auto-hide, the panel was lost forever. [But, I'm totally guessing
that the graphics-driver might have something to do with it.]

[Of course, I figured out how to hack it back into visibility...in
the 'plasmarc' file, set the panelMode back from 1 to 0.]

Clearly a bug. [But, as I said, hopefully they'll get it right by 4.1.3.]

Thanks for the various advices on how to restore and move the applets. I understand perfectly. Mine just spring left or right, bounce back, disappear and so on. So I suppose mine is just broken.

I'm not liking this KDE4. Very tempted to spend a year with Gnome until KDE works again.
