Arrow How do I acquire/apply/use/switch btw KDE 4.0 and KDE 3.5

I am sure that I could Google this - but doing that alongside asking for the experience of others can also be the best way to accomplish a task the right way, the first time.

Today I used the DVD installer (I do love OpenSuse's installer ... I prefer to use its Text Mode myself)
to install OpenSuse 11.0 on a new-ish Lenovo Thinkpad R61i laptop. I opted for KDE 4 but noticed that I could have also/either chosen KDE 3.5 as well. I used the DVD install but also had network access for getting keys and updates during the initial boot and first run of OpenSuse 11.0.

After toying around with the OpenSuse 11.0 desktop (with KDE 4) for a couple of hours, I get errors pretty consistently. Therefore, I'd like to hear some suggestions on the best way to switch from KDE 4.0 to KDE 3.5 . It's my understanding that I can have both installed at the same time, and even switch back and forth. I do have, by the way, all the repositories enabled and in use for all of the various "KDE" suggested repositories.

Would someone who has experience in this area provide me with their notion of the best way to make this switch? I realize it is likely as easy as downloading and installing the correct package (and its dependencies). However, what about user experience? ... who has "been there, done that" and maybe has a few extra pointers beyond that for making this a smooth transition?

    Thanks!
