    Default compat-wireless won't install

compat-wireless is not available to install in Yast when I search for compat-wireless.

When I try to do a 1click install for here

    Webpin

I fails saying cannot install compat-wireless.

Can someone help me get this installed?

    64bit Suse 11

    Thanks

Add this to your repo list Index of /repositories/home:/schmolle1980 or download the rpms from there & manually install them

    Hi
Wouldn't that be the update one, if the OP has updated the kernel?

Thanks Andy but I don't see an rpm for just compat-wireless.

I do find and have already installed 64bit:
    compat-wireless-kmp
    compat-wireless-scripts

Since my card still isn't detected in Yast I assumed I needed the one list as just compat-wireless?

The latest compat-wireless is supposed to support my Intel Corporation Device 4237 card.

Hi. How can I "slipstream" that package in an OpenSuSE 11.0 iso (which I have dumped in a directory following the directions in this guide). I'm in ubuntu x86 right now (it's about the only linux distro that have been able to get my wifi card (a rtl8187B) going).

    Adding this repo

    Index of /repositories/home:/schmolle1980/openSUSE_11.0_Update

Trying to install compat-wireless still fails?

    compat-wireless-kmp-default
    compat-wireless-scripts

    both install without error

how can I find why the 1click install fails?
    ???

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me that
compat-wireless is some obsolete package's name.

Firstly, if you click in webpin on "compat-wireless"
and then "View contents of this package",
you can see that the list is too short
and for some reason contains compat-wireless-2.6.tar.bz2.
Content of compat-wireless-kmp-default seems ok to me.
Secondly, there is no package named "compat-wireless" if you look here
    Index of /repositories/home:/schmolle1980/openSUSE_11.0/x86_64.
That's why I think these two packages you have installed are correct
    compat-wireless-kmp-default
    compat-wireless-scripts

So I think if you have added update repository,
    as malcolmlewis has suggested,
update this packages, reboot and check if it works.

If not, then it seems to me it would be better to start new thread,
where are listed exact name of your wireless card, kernel version etc,
so it will be easier to help you get wireless card working.

Yes I did start the other thread and thanks for sharing your more knowledgeable opinion.

I had guessed that but still haven't gotten my Intel 5100 working yet.

I read that other thread and I suppose the easiest way
to get your wireless device recognized is to update to 2.6.27 kernel.

If it fails or you'll have other difficulties with wireless connection,
    write to that other thread.

    Good luck.
