Default Is there another text editor for KDE4.1?

On my PC kwrite does not save properly. By this I mean that I'll write ,say a recipe for peach pie, then click save as Peach Pie.
Now if I should want to access this later I'll go to Peach Pie & find it blank! Kate acts the same way so please don't say use kate.
So is there another text editor that plays well with KDE4.1.1 that I can use the same way I used kwrite?

That's hard to believe, I'm pretty sure it's pebkac you're describing.
Exactly what are the steps you take to save a file? Describe the menus
you're going through and the keyboard input you're supplying to kate or
    kwrite.
If possible upload screenshots somewhere (e.g. photobucket.com) and post
    an url.

Btw; there are dozens of text editors around, mostly for terminal usage,
but also with GUIs, e.g. gvim (although I have a feeling your not going
to like /that/ one a lot if you can't get kate or kwrite to work for you).

LittleRedRooster: no it's not pebkac I chiefly use the save as icon in the toolbar ,but even File>Save as does this even on my other PC.

mmarif4u: I'm so into KDE I completely forgot about gedit thanks

Ultimately I installed the KDE3.5.9 kwrite but if that fails gedit is next!

    If you say so.
But without more info, there's nothing I can do or suggest wrt kate or
kwrite. Both work as expected on my PC with 10.3

See 'webpin "Text Editor"' for more options.
