I recently installed SuSE 11.0 on my new computer and fired up Xfig only to discover that the space between characters in the text portion of my drawings was excessive, causing the the text to spill over into the drawings. I have a 19" wide screen monitor and after messing with various screen sizes discovered that changing the screen resolution from the native 1440x900 to 1024x768 resulted in the text being near normal. However, at this resolution the screen looks awful. Is there some configuration setting for fonts that I can tweak to get rid of the excessive spacing between characters in 1440x900 resolution mode? I have not noticed this spacing problem in any other application.
