installing a new font into open office from ".ttf"?

alright I was wondering if anybody knew how to do this.

the .ttf in question can be found here : http://wwwhome.cs.utwente.nl/~oosting/basic/magic/magic.ttf

as you can well see, it’s a font that mimics the card game; magic the gathering’s font type.

so does anyone know how to install it?

I am pretty sure that the OO suite simply uses the system fonts available.
You can read about how to install windows fonts in this article.
Just follow the section titled, “Installing the fonts” and you should be good to go.

As I recall I just dropped my TTF files in my ~/.fonts directory (’~’
meaning my user’s home directory, so in the end it was /home/ab/.fonts)
and then restarted OpenOffice and they were there like magic. Too easy
even for words!

Good luck.

Whaaaat! wait… how the… where did… OK, I didn’t see that folder before!!!

and I was looking for it too!, must have been cause I went straight to openofices folder and looked there completely missing the folder blatently at the top of the line of folders…

how could I be so stupid…

ab@novell.com way is the easy one to do it.
Alternate is:
Download the font 1st to your hard drive.
Open configure Desktop from kicker menu, there select font installer. and add the font there.

Thats it.
