    Default Adobe CS3 and Suse

First off. I own A legal version of Windows Vista Ultimate and Adobe CS3 master collection I am a web developer not a software pirate.

Do you guy have any idea how I can get CS3 master collection to run on Linux.

I dont like windows or OSX10 I want to strt running Linux as my primary os. However I can not make a living with Abobe Software. Not just Photoshop. I need Flash, AfterEffects along with Photoshop, Illistrator, Dreamweaver and Indesign.

I can not use a substitution because venders need access to the files.

I am fine running a virtual windows if that is the best way to go. Money isnt the problem I can pay for the apps if needed. I was running VirtualBox in ubuntu but that sucked. The Desktop was to small to work on.

I have a dual boot and I am not willing to boot into linux to surf the web and then boot in to windows to work.

Do you guy have any idea how I can get CS3 master collection to run on Linux.

If not I will be forced to continue waiting on linux to devolop into the workable OS eveyone wants.

Did you try seamless mode in Virtualbox? That expands the guest OS window to fill the whole screen. You need the Sun Virtualbox to do this, not the OSE editions provided by Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, etc.

Or run Linux inside a Virtualbox on Windows.

Unfortunately this is what happens when vendors like Adobe only support certain platforms. You have to use that platform like it or not. It's Adobe that needs "developing", not Linux.

I agree it is adobe that needs to fix it, but they have said that isnt going to happen. Linux is to small for them. I will look into sun Virtual box, I hadnt heard of it. I am glad to see photoshop CS2 is working and very easy to install, except I have a master colection of CS2 and therefor my serial wont work.

Runing linux inside a windows virtual os doesnt make much since. All the ram will still go to widows, so you might as well just run windows.

That's typical of them. For their Flash Media Server, where you would expect more use on Linux servers, they only offer a 32-bit edition. Seems like they need to get into the 21st century. Fortunately it runs fine under a 64-bit Linux due to the good 32-bit support.

Difficult... but I do believe it is possible to get parts of
CS3 to run now under wine or using crossover anyhow.

Crossover costs around $50 I think (it's a better managed wine).

I think you meant "without" rather than "with". As Adobe pretty much
only supports Mac or Windows, I think that's your only choice
regardless of how well things run in wine or crossover.

That's another possibility. Might be some features that don't work
right though... but it'll be really close.. essentially you'll be
running Windows.. no different than any other Windows desktop.

    Understand that!

For maximum compatibility and since you're really asking for Windows
(whether you realize it or not), I think running a virtual machine
is your best bet. For ease of use Virtualbox or VMware Server might
be your best options. If you're a bit more advanced, things may
perform best using kvm in openSUSE 11. There's also Xen, but think
    that's a dark horse now.

Nonsense, that works just fine with the OSE version.
As far as i know only usb isn't supported by the OSE version.

I'd probably say to try running VMware workstation- when 6.5 comes out it'll have unity mode.

If you can get along with the cs2 versions then you can run them with wine i have dreamweaver 8 and photoshop cs2, both work really well.

I have VirtualBox up and running.
I installed XP SP3, and it will not
    load the CS3 Install.

It doesnt know what to do with the files and
    some error about the architecture.

I am currently installing Vista, If
that doesnt work I will post the exact
message and see if you guys can help me
    get it straightened out

I am impressed with the ease
    of the new sun virtualbox
It is a lot better then a few versions ago.
