    Default importing mail to KDE4

I don't really understand what kmail gets upto, however after a bit of thinking I tried this

    cp -r --preserve .kde/share/apps/kmail/mail/.[a-zA-Z0-9]* .kde4/share/apps/kmail/mail

    I got no subfolders

It seemed to work for inbox and sentmail, as emails seemed to be present. However clicking on any email in kmail in KDE4 changed all the header detail to "unknown" and the body was empty.

Is there an idiots guide that anyone can point me to?

(BTW: the import filter doesn't work for me either)

    TIA

Isn't the problem the '.'after /mail/ which excludes the subfolders in the folder. Why not simply use an '*' after /mail/ and get everything in one fell swoop. What you have got is the indices, but not the folders.

thank you, I used .[blah] because they were hidden files, however I'm now closer to using KDE4.1 than I was, as you solved the problem
