Thread: switching to evolution

    Default switching to evolution

    Hello all,

I am getting ready to dump Vista from my work laptop and install openSUSE 11. I've spent much time debating this, and making sure all the software will work that I need to, including wireless.

The last piece of the puzzle is our exchange server. Now, this may be a stupid question, but I am going to answer it as my searching has yielded more questions.

I need evolution to connect to the exchange server (which it does) to get my email and schedule meetings, as well as accept meetings.

I read that "Novell Evolution" has this ability built in. Is this the same one that is shipped with openSUSE 11? I'm not a huge evolution user, actually never used it, so I'm not sure. I know, or at least thing I know, I need the Evolution-Exchange plug-in, is this correct?

Any help before I make the switch would be appreciated.

    Hi.
It works well for me i use it for mail and calendar.
No connection problems, actually works better than my work laptop with XP. On that i can only use the web interface, when i'm not connected to the network at work!!!!

The Evolution shipped with openSUSE 11 works well with Exchange (I've
    tested it). 10.3's is broken.

that was my next question, if the stock openSUSE 11 version of evolution and evolution-exchange would work for checking email, syncing calendar and scheduling meetings

Thanx, I may be doing this over lunch today.
