Installing Gnome on SUSE 11

Hi

I’ve been playing around with KDE for a while now and have finally realized that I would probably prefer Gnome however I have no Idea on how to install Gnome as a option when I want to boot up a GUI.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

go to YaST - software management click on the top drop-down menu, select patterns, then Graphical Environments, Gnome Desktop Environment. That should do the trick. If you want to do it speedily, disable your repo’s temporarily. once installed,go to sessions at the log-in screen & select Gnome, then log-in. Once installed, don’t forget to re-enable your repo’s

Andy

Thanks Andy,

In the end I gave up and installed all the Gnome packages individually (including all the language packs) by searching Gnome community repositories.

Sounds like your way would have been a lot easier but I’ve got to make mistakes to learn lol.
