Thread: 3D earth model widget doesnt display

Default 3D earth model widget doesnt display

I have a fresh Open Suse 11 system, graphics card is Nvidia 7600GTS (PCI version and I have enabled OpenGL drivers).

When I try to add the 3D earth model to my KDE4 desktop, the widget fails to display and states "OpenGL Shaders not supported"

I am sure this card has pixel shading etc.

    Heres some info:

Nvidia Driver 173.14.12 (from nvidia settings)

    orac:/home/anc # glxinfo | grep shader

    GL_ARB_fragment_shader, GL_ARB_half_float_pixel, GL_ARB_imaging,
    GL_ARB_shadow, GL_ARB_shader_objects, GL_ARB_shading_language_100,
    GL_ARB_vertex_buffer_object, GL_ARB_vertex_program, GL_ARB_vertex_shader,
    GL_EXT_Cg_shader, GL_EXT_depth_bounds_test, GL_EXT_draw_range_elements,
    GL_NV_texture_shader, GL_NV_texture_shader2, GL_NV_texture_shader3,

the above shows some shading commands present.

Full glxinfo is lengthy but available on request.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Default Re: 3D earth model widget doesnt display

I actually got it working along with the desktop effects. Silly me I tried to install the extra plugins for compizfusion.
This for some reason ripped the whole OpenGL to threads and while I now get the desktop effects with fire and water I don't
get titlebars or the 3D earth plasmoid/widget.

I don't know what exactly broke but it seems to be bundled with that, at least for me...
