Minor screen corruption in KDE 4.1 with Nvidia drivers

I have an Nvidia 6800 card, so I am avoiding that whole snag with bad drivers for the 8 and 9 series.

However, I am getting some screen corruption.

When I open the panel modification cashew (painter's pad?), the Add Widgets, Lock Widgets, etc. buttons are painted incorrectly.

There's another problem that makes OpenOffice nearly unusable. Whenever it's running it causes massive screen corruption in the KDE panel.

Is anyone else having these problems? How do I fix this?

yeah I have been having those problems as well, they r nvidia's fault and can't really be fixed, in any case I was using 4.1 on one machine with nvidia but I have a done a reinstall with kde 3 for now and am keeping that, I am using 4.1 on a ATI machine and it works great

There r new nvidia drivers out, try using those and see if it fixes it but I can't guarantee anything but I know its a known bug, even people at the nvidia forums r talking about it

Hmm, ic. I thought those only affected the 8 and 9 series, but it seems like it could be across the board. Shame, Nvidia usually has good linux drivers. I wonder what caused them to drop the ball this time.

Try using the beta version 173.08 I can't install the latest drivers correctly lately so I settled with it. I compared your images with mine and the rendering here is fine.

I am looking at those pics, and I don't have that issue at all with my 64bit/8600GT setup.

I don't have any issues at all.

Some people don't have the problems, thats the reason nvidia has a hrd time reproducing this bug, this bug as far as I know started after driver version 169.04

I have the same problem with my GeForce Go 6100 on 173.14.12 driver on KDE 4.1. With KDE 4.0.4 it works better for me, i have no screen corruption there.

I'm running SUSE 11.0 Kde 3.59 32bit
The card I am running is GeForce 6200.
But I had corruption with the 173, 169 drivers.
And reverted back to the 100.14.19 driver.
Which ended the corruption.

Now this machine is an older machine so I don't really need the latest driver. I was just trying to find a stable driver.

I know you are talking about KDE 4.0 and 4.1. But the problem is in 3.59 also.

I know you are talking about KDE 4.0 and 4.1. But the problem is in 3.59 also.

what happens in kde 3.5.9? I am using it with its own default compositing and haven't noticed anything
