    Default Virtualbox

    i installed virtualbox 1.6.2_31466_openSUSE103-1-i586 from SUN
    because I need usb support for my printer. when I start the SUN
    XVM Virtual Box manager I get the following error:

    Could not load the Host USB Proxy Service (VERR_FILE_NOT_FOUND).
    The service might be not installed on the host computer.

    Result Code:
    0x00004005
    Component:
    Host
    Interface:
    IHost {81729c26-1aec-46f5-b7c0-cc7364738fdb}
    Callee:
    IMachine {f95c0793-7737-49a1-85d9-6da81097173b}

    I looked in YaST for a Host USB Proxy service, could not find it.

    Does anyone know what I'm missing

    I successfully install a windows XP system and am able to
    download updates to Windows. The Virtual machine seems to run
    fine but it does not find my usb printer.

    I added rw and user to the fstab usb entry, as per the manual
    saying user needs rw to fstab entry. I also am a member of the
    group virtualbox and
    crw-rw---- 1 root vboxusers 10, 59 2008-08-05 14:59 /dev/vboxdrv
    appears correct.

    Any Idea what I missed??

    Thanks

    Is this the line you added to fstab?

    /sys/bus/usb/drivers /proc/bus/usb usbfs devgid=XXX,devmode=664 0 0

    Where XXX is the vboxusers group id# from "Users and Group Administration" in YaST.

    Not when I sent the email. But I found the WIKI page that said to do that
    about 1/2 hour ago and did it but it still did not work. Another page
    mentioned doing a mount -a which I did (mount -a -t usbfs) and things
    started working. I assume I should put the mount command
    in /etc/boot.local.

    I installed my usb printer and also the new free version of AVG Free (8.0).

    The main test is installing TurboTax. That is the only product under Windows
    I still use. Now I can deinstall Windows from my other system.

    Thanks for your response!!!
