    Hi all,

Who could help me to configure Vsftpd.conf to accept "public" account to download/upload and deny anonymous. port 21 ; because i'm under since a few hours and i no understand well the philosophy of Vsftpd.

I'll want a standard config file with log to install on my PC, possible ?

    Excuse always my writing UK/US

    Thank you.

    Sorry, haven't used it, but....

    - running vsftpd and pure-ftpd at the same time is probably *not* a good
    idea

    - have you given up with pure-ftpd? If the permissions are not correct
for uploading with that, vsftpd is unlikely to work either, I suggest.

What do you mean by a public account? Isn't that the same as anonymous? Or do you mean something with a password? By default vsftpd sets up using the Linux password file for authentication which isn't always a good thing because it means that every user account is automatically valid in ftp, and also passwords go in plaintext over the wire. You can set it up to use a separate password database, this is explained in one of the readmes that come with the package, or at the home site.

Maybe tell us what it is you are trying to setup and we can suggest a suitable config.
