    Default Some basic questions

i have installed KDE4.1 successfully, and its working fine.and much faster than other sessions.
I have some basic beginner type questions:
    1- How can i resize(small) desktop icons.
2- In gnome when we open computer, there in the left side pane, gave us details of drives and other stuff,So we can easily navigate from there, even if you are any where in the drive or folders. How can i enable that in Konqueror.I tried Dolphin, but it just showing Root,Home etc not all stuff.
3- Any online dictionary that i can install and add to widget.
4- when i edit the document, there backup remain there at the same place.for example:
    test.html
    test.html~
How i can i hide the ~ file.because it shows alot of files when i have more files.
5- Open Office files did not show office icons with it.just an image with ?.

    Thanks in advance.

In kde 4.1 it is quite different to what you are used to.
    Make sure widgets are unlocked
Add Folder View widget and add icons/places to the folder. There are resize handles on icons and use config desktop also, go to apperance - icons -advanced, (adjust in there to)

~ is a backup file created when you use a text editor and alter a text file.
It is standard practice for that in kate and kwrite. You can disable that feature.
You can safely delete ~ file if you are sure you don't need it
It's a kind of safety feature - sys admins use kate to edit system files, so it is set to auto create ~backups

In Dolphin go to View - Panels
    mark places and folders
In folders now right click main folders you want in places

I have the same in OO. Have just left it.

    One thing more.
When i download some thing.suppose it has to be on desktop.
But it is not.I have to go to home dir and open desktop there, then i can view the downloaded file.
Any idea why it cant be on desktop.
