To whom it may concern
When upgraded my machine from Suse 10.3 to 11.0 and install KDE 4.0 … I had major problem with video card with my machine …
So I install Suse 11.0 with KDE 3.5 …
Now that KDE 4.1 has been release and video card problem has been resolved …
I wanted to know how do I upgrade my KDE from 3.5 to 4.1 (By Passing 4.0) … Can I update from 3.5 to 4.1 or do I have to wipe my machine and start all over with the install of suse 11.0 to KDE 4.1 …
Thanks
Hmm…I use only the first TWO repos that Caf mentions.
[Notice the phrase ‘factory-desktop’ in both the first and third.]
If I enable the 3rd, it wants to DOWNGRADE a module, so I think
that means there there are duplicates of stuff in the 3rd.
And, to be clear, you are not really upgrading from KDE 3.x to 4.1,
you are adding 4.1 (i.e. keeping 3.x). [Which is a good idea, since 4.1 is still
considered ‘beta-quality’ by most of us. I play in 4.1 and work in 3.x.:)]
the community repo changed recently, the old location is empty, this is correct.

Upgrades to 4.1 will in some cases mean a downgrade in some packages which are in the 4.0.4 repos
This has been the case for some time with 4.1 in beta and rc stages.
cookdav is correct about 3 and 4. It’s an upgrade in 4 if you are only running 4.0.4
kde3 is another option for a desktop and is more stable
add this repo to get the very latest in kde3

having first installed it from the patterns in yast software management
kde3 base
kde3 desktop
then use the above repo to upgrade all packages
