Thread: ntfs-3g files always shared?

  1. #1

    Default ntfs-3g files always shared?

I have this weird problem. When ever I copy a file or directory over to my Vista drive with ntfs-3g, the files always have the share icon on them and are being shared.

Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?

    Having same issue in 11.1.

Copy over a file to a windows drive mounted using ntfs-3g from linux, log out of linux, and into windows and the file is being shared in windows.

Maybe my fstab is configured incorrectly for ntfs-3g?

    /dev/sda1 /mnt/Windows ntfs-3g 0,0 default

Sorry, I don't have Vista so can't comment, but this problem is being discussed on the NTFS-3g forum:

NTFS-3G Support • View topic - Files written by ntfs-3g appear as "shared" under Vista

    No solution yet...

I see. I wonder if this is just an issue with vista.

    should be: /dev/sda1 /mnt/Windows ntfs-3g 0 0 default

Probably the comma is not really there, just probably a typo?
