Setting up wireless/ confused

Ok, so I installed SuSe 11 with gnome today on my old Dell Latitude D600. I knew my wireless wasn’t going to work, but I forgot to save the drivers I need.

I looked under Hardware Information>Network Card and I have Truemobile 1400 & NetXtreme BCM5702X Gigabit Ethernet (eth0)

I assumed that I needed to install the drivers for the second one.

I did the following:

sudo mkdir -p /lib/firmware **no problems here

sudo b43-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware \ home/dan/wl_apsta_mimo.o (which is where that file is)

I’m probably doing this completely wrong. If anyone could walk me by the hand through this and tell me exactly what to do, it would be much appreciated.

if we knew what wireless device, we could advise you better

Andy

I was assuming it was the NetXtreme, which is a Broadcom.

sorry, mis-read your post, once you did that, did you get any errors ? if you have a wired connection it is a bit easier

sudo /usr/sbin/install_bcm43xx_firmware

once installed, go to YaSt - network devices - network settings & fill in the necessary parts
