Most prolific forum contributors

Up on my soapbox] My hat is off to the following people who contributed 50 or more replies in this community during June, our first month of operation. THANK YOU. And if your name isn’t on the list, it doesn’t mean we’re not appreciative of you too. Even one helpful suggestion to another forum member adds to the value of these forums.

With my somewhat measly 59 up there, I feel honoured to be thanked for something that isn’t difficult, or a chore, to begin with.

I love this place. It’s exciting to be a part of this new community as the kinks are worked out and the forum itself comes into its own. I’m certainly not the most knowledgeable user out there, but I am glad to help out where I can.

Yay altruism!

Edit: Woo! A fitting 100th post.

PARTY!!! (any excuse will do)

Are those real emails (i.e. are they bot harvestable?) or am I paranoid?

The Novell ones are. Most of the other ones look like:

enderandrew@no-mx.foru

Which not only is incomplete, but not my email.

Mine is. I find it rather useful to have a mail address so people can send me mails

Uwe

I’m pretty sensitised to plain view email addresses.

I do like the PM facility on this site because it pipes messages via a buffer that spam bots don’t penetrate.

I find that having a real email address in plain view of bots as harvestable text on a website causes an avalanche of spam that renders an address unusable fairly quickly.

I find that simply having only a graphic of an email address on a website is enough to cause large numbers of spam mails, to the extent of needing to change it approx twice a year. And that’s just for a picture of an address.

  • swerdna,

<shrug> My mail providers have good spam filters. I don’t care about the one or two spam mails sneaking through on a very bad day.

Uwe

Boy, I guess I better get going if I want to end up on July’s list!

omg… I made it on a list… well, my alias did anyway… does that count as well?!

Thanks for the thanks Kgroneman!
It has been fun posting on the new site & I hope the list will keep growing!

Cheers!
Wj

I’ve actually been posting less lately. I’ve been busy.

enderandrew,

Will you get your priorities straight?!?

Yeah, I’ve been trying to tell my boss the same thing… he wasn’t amused… go figure!
