    Default System Administrator Appreciation Day

Don't forget to appreciate your system administrator on the ninth annual
System Administrator Appreciation Day this Friday, July 25, 2008.

If YOU administer your own system/machine, then treat yourself to a 15
minute break and then GET BACK TO WORK!

But remember the SuSE motto: Have Fun!

Read more about the day, and why at http://www.sysadminday.com/

    And, get the word out!

Does that apply to forum administrators?............
My computer always used to beat me at chess, but it is no match for me since I changed the competition to kick boxing

you bet, march into your chief's office, slam your coffee cup down on
his desk and DEMAND some appreciation...

after you have done that you will realize how really easy you _had_ it
    in these fora.....heh!

Absolutely. And before you ask: To moderators as well.
I expect appreciation everywhere tomorrow, let it be forums.opensuse.org. forums.novell.com, Groupwise, Console One, heck even our helpdesk software.

I'm a SysAdmin, and I've never really seen anyone make much of the day other than SysAdmins. That being said, I really enjoy my job and don't feel that I need a day to recognize me or my profession. I think common courtesy to everyone on a day-to-day basis is preferred.

Uwe, i have appreciated you for YEARS...using a variety of 'names'..

THANK YOU, i appreciate you...and, ALL the others here intent on
    actually helping folks..

(and not simply trying to defend "their" turf and make sure it stays all
pretty and nicely aligned...with all the post nestled snugly into their
    absolutely "correct" place....etc..)

Helpdesk forwarded me a ticket today which obviously has been sitting on the shelf for almost 2 months, and it is blinking in red colors due to the increased priority. Probably it is their way to show appreciation, instead of fireworks <G>

at work all secretaries get flowers and cake on "their" day but so far in my enormous career as a *nix sysadmin I have never had anyone noticing sysadmin appreciation day :-(

we even ordered free mugs and stickers and passed them around: I love my IT department: Merchandise

but alas still no geek gadgets for us........
