Default KDE 4.1 Panel useability: moving buttons

    Hi,

with KDE 4.1 (on opensuse 11) I inadvertently deleted the opensuse menu
button on the left of the bottom panel. When I re-added it, it appeared
on the right edge of the panel.

I didn't find any way of moving it to the left again. Is it really not
possible, or is the way of doing it hidden so well that I couldn't find
it even after looking for a while?

    Regards,
    Jrg

You cannot move buttons on panels.
A solution consist to remove all applets from the panel, and then readd them in the correct order.

Yes you can reposition icons on panels since version 4.098 (RC1).

    1. Make sure your widgets are unlocked
    2. Right click on panel > Panel Settings
    3. Hover your mouse over the icons, a cross-arrow will appear, allowing you to drag and drop.

    ****, did not know this
    this is documented/announced somewhere?
are there are other things I'm missing from 3.5.x implemented that I'm unaware of?

I found that out quite by accident just by messing around to see what right or left clicking would do the move crosses just appear
    hovering over the panel

In the top right corner of your desktop you can choose to lock or unlock widgets. The panel objects are widgets too. After unlocking you can right click the startmenu and start moving it almost completely to the left. Then you right click again to stop moving. Now you right click the desktop icon witch is probably the most left icon to move it one step to the right.

Right click again to stop moving and select lock widgets in the top right corner menu to prevent this from happening again.
You'll never get a second change to eat your first herring
