Video Resolution Not Holding?

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, but I figured it would be a good start. I have a laptop in a docking station with an external monitor attached. I had been using OpenSuSE 10.3 without problems until I recently updated my system. The external monitor is an NEC widescreen with a native resolution of 1440x900. After doing the system updates on 10.3 and also now with 11.0 I can't get X to display using the 1440x900 resolution.

When I run Sax2 I can configure everything correctly and when I test the system the external monitor displays properly in 1440x900. However, when I save the settings and restart the system, the external and laptop display are both set to 1280x768. It doesn't matter whether the laptop display is open or closed.

I can post my xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log, but the log is very long and I don't know what portions are actually relevant.

Any ideas?

You can add new mode in xorg.conf file if you want to fix the video resolution of X window.

I would post my Xorg.0.log, but it is 8 times larger than a post can be, and I have no clue as to what I can strip and have it still be worthwhile.

i am also having a similar problem.
i have a ATI graphic card and after installing the driver i set the resolution to 1280 x 960.but i am only seeing a 1152 x 864 resolution on my pc.but when i see in sax2 it shows 1280 x 960 resolution.
