I don't know the 1st thing about a Mac, ... but even if I did, I don't think I could help you. You need to provide more detail as to where you are in the install process (before the black screen), and how far you got before things failed, and what error messages you got.

Don't forget to surf the openSUSE.org pages for PPC information:

I try somme options at the Yaboot prompt:

    - textmode=1
    - acceleratedx=1
    - video=ofonly

I have a white screen with a white text on black:

    CF000012
    Setup Done
    Failed to map cascade IRQ
    smp_core99_probe
    core99_setup_cpu 0 done
    SuSE Linux

Question Re: OpenSuSE 11 - iMac G5 iSight

I have the same problem. I have an iMac g5 with a 250gb hdd that has a 70gb partition for SuSE. I've read as much as I can find, most of the literature I have found relates to windoze. I really want to avoid a clean install if I can, that's why I partitioned with Drive genius. It will boot from the disk into a black screen with very small white writing with the command boot: and a choice of three installation options. I have tried boot: "install" or just enter. Either way it just does the same thing as pfudal has described. Any help would be appreciated. I have installed this OS to an Acer laptop absolutely no problems whatsoever.
