Exclamation smb: last character of last word always cut

connecting from OpenSuSE 11 to SELS 8 smb Server works with a systematic error msg "file or folder does not exist"!
The reason of this behaviour is the last character of each name is always cut neither shown. It's possible to browse the smb shares on adding the missing character and clicking away two error messages on each call!

    How to correct?

There are a couple of existing reports regarding this obvious buffer-length-off-by-one bug. I have found that mount.cifs and the newer smb4k command work fine.
