i do not know if this will help, but i’ve read that the internals of a
LOT of different webcams on the market use the same chips/detectors and
what not…a guy in France has reverse engineered a driver that works
with hundreds of differently branded webcam…TRY looking/reading here:
http://mxhaard.free.fr/index.html

he lists a couple of Orite cameras…(neither an RN-3000)…but i GUESS
his driver will work…maybe not all features, but some or most…

Typically, users are asked to run “lsusb” from an xterm/konsole which will give the vendor-ID and device/product-ID.

Then go to this URL and follow the instructions:
HCL/Web Cameras - openSUSE

Do NOT install more than one version of a driver. And do NOT blindly install a webcam driver without first checking to see if it is supported.

Hi there.

I first after HCL/Web Cameras - openSUSE download webcam file package and piranha webcam online.

But, Orite RN-3000 is not work.:frowning:

Help :frowning:

I think both the “lsusb” and “dmesg” output make it clear that your Orite RN-3000 webcam is provided to Orite by Microdia. Microdia web cams do not have great support under Linux. If you take a look here its not supported yet, even in a trial version:
microdia | Google Groups

IMHO you should find an MS-Windows friend who has a web cam that is known to be Linux compatible, and try to trade web cams with them.

Thank you oldcpu
