This sounds like a good question for an Oracle forum. Have you followed
the documentation from them already? Tried the installation by
downloading and firing it up? Keep in mind this is probably not
supported or tested by Oracle at all since 10g came out long before
opensuse 11, or maybe even 10 (though Oracle 10g is supported on SLES
10). Finally, Gnome vs. KDE vs. other shouldn't matter really.

    Good luck.

I installed Oracle 10XE under Suse 10.3 and it ran without a hitch, even created entries for starting/stopping the database in my K menu.
Not sure about 10g though, but if you're just after the free to use version, start by downloading it here Oracle Database 10g Express Edition Downloads for Linux x86

It comes with APEX - a web based tool for developing web applications.

You'll also need to download the SQL Developer tools (I think they're now called JStudio).

    good luck.
    BZFlag: good clean fun. Sorta.

    Excellent link Suresh!

That also seems to bypass the installer requirement (checking for REHL or SLES 9).
It took me half a day to find the needed ' runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs ' to get it installed on SLES 10 64bit.
The switch bypasses the OS check.

There is also a good guide found behind this link :

You will need an account to access it & I'm not allowed to quote it here.

    Cheers,

Wow... that's a bit of work. If you modify the second line of
    /etc/SuSE-release to have a '9' instead of '10' for the version you'll
be able to do the install as well. Make a backup of system files
    (/etc/SuSE-release) before modifying, of course.

    Good luck.
