Antivirus & firewall

Hi. Does anyone know if there is any antivirus app included in SUSE DVD ? If not, any antivirus recommendations ?

Many thanks

The firewall is built in and you can access it via Yast.

Anti-virus is pretty much pointless mostly in Linux. I have NEVER been bothered with a Virus in Linux. Clam Anti-virus is probably the most widely used in Suse and it can of course be used to scan windows partitions.
Most likely problems for you in Linux is a “Rootkit”
see here for expl: Rootkit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

rkhunter is available

Clamav is included and integrates pretty nicely. I once tried Avira, which is free for personal use. Both found my Eicar test virus, else I have no experience with viruses

As for Firewalls: iptables is pretty much the default on Linux, and enabled on Opensuse by default through SuSEfirewall2. There are other frontends available.

There you go: A virus scanner makes sense when you offer Samba shares for Windows clients.
