    Default choosing the VGA

    Hi
I have just installed OpenSuSE 11.0, but I am facing an issue with my VGS, the OS is recognizing it as an S3 card while its ATI !!!

I dont remember the VGA model, so I c hosed the 1 click install to install the ATI driver which is general for all radeon cards, its installed successfully but the system is still running the S3 driver

how can I chose the card model manually??

one more thing.. I am connecting the PC to my 40 full HD LCD TV throw a normal monitor cable, what is the best configuration for (display size, resolution And aspects ration)?

Is openSUSE maybe reporting an onboard S3 video card??

You could post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf to see if there are two cards defined in there.

For each TV the best resolution depends on it's own recommended settings, check the TV manual if it states how to connect a PC using the VGA input and what resolution and sync rate to use.

    Have a lot of fun!

when i look on the back of the PC, there is only one place for the monitor, but any how you may have a look on the config files content as listed bellow... please note that even that the "ati" device is listed, when i use yast's "graphics card and monitor" i can se the S3 card only and there is no option to change the card type while i may change the monitor!!!
