I'm currently running a MacBook Pro with 2.2 GHz duo core,4 Gb memory,4GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM, 160 Gb hard drive

I'm running mac os X and Windows XP through bootcamp. The programs I use are: The Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino 3-D 4, 3-D Studio Max 9, Corel Painter X, Light Wave, and possible gamming in the near future but for now just the programs. I've been hearing Linux can't run windows software or software that is bought.

My 1-year subsription of XP is about to run out and I don't want to get raped and pay $200 for the full XP. Ideally, I would like to run only Linux and not partition off my harddrives, as well as, not piggy-back off of OS X, since I'm a windows guy. Also, I would imagine that it would be faster too. Windows on a Mac slows down considerilbly. I was forced by my college to buy a Mac Book or the wouldn't let my sign-up for classes.(
