Default 22" Monitor does not work with 1680x1050

Hello I have installed Suse 11.0 on my IBM Lenovo R60e.
Priviosly I had 10.3 and the Monitor was working fine.

Now with the new Suse the Monitor will not switch to the high resolution.

In sax2 I can set it up and test it >>>> this is working ok. But only the test.

I have discovered that the LCD Monitor on the Laptop is always on >> should it not be off when there is a external Moniotr attached?

    Below some more info

    Hope you can help

    cheers

My screen is the same resolution, my graphics card is an ATI X1800 Mobility Radeon.

I filed a bug report regarding display issues and have received a response to the effect that they are looking to provide a debugging strategy.

Though whether or not our experiences are in any way linked I cant say.

I don't know much this problem, but you could try using XRandr to configure your dual monitor configuration. Read this guide first:

Multiple Screens Using XRandR - openSUSE

I have the same problem with a DELL 20" monitor. My openSUSE 11 (gnome) setup, ATI Radeon HD3870 works fine, but my openSUSE 11 (KDE4) Radeon x1600 setup does not. The test works, but when I restart X, the refresh rate and resolution are whacked out.

    here is my post:

openSUSE 11 and Radeon x1600 - openSUSE Forums

any help would be appreciated. I am to suspect it's KDE4 (possibly), but not sure.

    Hi kevinpo,

sorry to hear that you are stuck in the same situation.
I have been reading this (and other) forums. There are similar issues out there, but no solution for this yet.

The problem here 1280x800 Native Resolution For Laptop - Page 2 - openSUSE Forums sounds much the same but the solution with the wrong driver will not work for me as I am running the "intel" driver already.

I can only say that any help is greatly appreciated.

Anyone have any ideas on what's going on, or how to resolve?

Change "intel" to "i810" and restart X - see if it helps.

If it does, the problem lies with the Intel driver.
