Default windows media player plugin for firefox

i tried to search for some previous info on this but couldnt find anything so if someone can help or point me in the right direction i would appreciate it. i am using suse 10.3.

there are various sites that stream video and use WMP plugins (the one i am trying to get at is usllive.com). it notes that there is a plugin missing, gives an icon to download plugins then it searches for an unknown plugin. i am wondering if there is some way to resolve this as i assume that firefox/win is not recognizing any plugin for a linux system, or they dont exist.

    thanks

Have you installed VLC and the VLCmozillaplugin from Packman?

I don't use it myself as I don't need what you describe. Worth trying

there is also a version for kaffeine

I have use them in the past with earlier versions of suse 10

It's just that now, I refuse to submit to the narrow minded leanings of sites that only offer restriced format players.

If I absolutely must use something from such a site, I run xp in virtual box.

This often is very website dependent. Why not post the web site, and various users can tell you if they can play the streaming video from the site, and if they can, they can tell you what applications they are using to successfully do so.

I think he did post it oldcpu, I get to: USLlive.com from what he posted.

It shows a plugin required for me too, but then I never bother with wmv stuff

i don't know if i can watch those you have to pay for, but i _can_ watch
the video teaser on the left side of the first page of that site..

to do that (on SuSE 10.3 with firefox 2.something) i just followed all
the "Hacking SuSE 10.3" tips found here: http://tinyurl.com/6r84sb

and used the firefox extension named MediaPlayerConnectivity, here:

good luck football (the one played all over the world) fan..

ok, USLlive.com (thanks caf4926 ! ). Like DenverD, this works in my firefox with mediaplayerconnectivity enabled, although I also have MPlayer and mplayerplug-in installed. I noted mediaplayerconnectivity calls gmplayer (which comes with MPlayer).

Also USLlive.com "just works" in openSUSE-10.3 konqueror, calling kaffeine as a plugin.

I would say that this is not the easiest site to play. Most sites I can pickup the URL of the stream, but this site I can not.

installed the mediaplayerconnectivity extension and it worked. it opens an mplayer window (there was a wizard to be able to select which player you want to use), there are some kinks to work out but it seems to have worked.

i guess i should have marked the site with a link to make it easier to see, sorry.

as for the matches, the open cup matches are free to watch, the league matches you have to pay for. my team, seattle sounders, are in the semifinal and so i am trying to catch up on all the earlier matches (i dont live in seattle anymore).

    thanks again for the help.
