    Default free editing software

    i read somewhat on video editing software and cinelerra seems to be a high quality editing program, has anyone used a better one, one that imports and exports many file formats?

    whats a good video conversion software package, one that can convert many formats- codecs

    My 3 favorite editors are Avidemux, GOPchop, and Kdenlive. Kdenlive has
    a steeper learning curve, but has a tutorial at:
    Kdenlive/Quickstart - Wikibooks, collection of open-content textbooks

    For conversion, I've always used the cmd-line tool 'ffmpeg'.
