Is there any way to customize icons without crashing?

Everytime I try to right click a desktop icon to edit.
It is owned by root and it crashes the system.
is there any way to change the pictures to the shortcuts?
it’s difficult and it crashes the session.

If you are talking about KDE4, it is possible this is yet to be implemented. Otherwise, look in ‘Properties.’

for me it worked quite well to install the extra KDE4 icons packages with yast2. good luck.
