Default Installing updates in OpenSuse 11

    Hello,

I'm just a newbie to OpenSuse...
I get the notification that there are updates for OpenSuse 11.
I click on it and say install updates.
After that i get the message:

nothing provides libtcl8.4.so needed by libpurple-2.4.2-10.1.i586
nothing provides libtcl8.4.so needed by libpurple-2.4.2-10.1.i586

The only option i get i Close window.

When i goto gnome terminal and type: sudo ln -s libtcl8.4.so
    It says file allready exists.

Can somebody help me on this please ?

    Regards Roelof

    Hi Roelof,

You could try using the command line update and see if that works better or gives specific output on which update exactly it's failing.

    Close the updater applet and open a terminal console & enter (without the ' ' );

    su -
    (enter root pw)
    zypper ref
    zypper up
    (say yes to all)
    zypper dup
    (say yes to all)

Curious if you get the same error.

As a note : the 2.4.2-10.1 version is newer than what I have on my system. Could be you are getting this from an added repository?

    Cheers,
    Wj

    Hello Wj,

thanks for this, but still have the same issue here.
It gives the same error, but comes with a solution
Solution 1: Do not install libpurple-2.4.2-10.1.i586
    I don't think that's a real solution but anyway.
Hopefully you can help me out here.

After choosing for not installing, the other updates were installing.

After choosing for not installing, the other updates were installing.
It seems i don't have anymore updates after reboot...
    Hopefully it solved my problem.
If not, i hope i can get back to youre help.
