Thread: Asus eee pc backup

    Default Asus eee pc backup

I've just got a shiny new eee pc. Before I start playing around with it, I want to make a backup/image/whatever of the SSD. What's the best way to do this?

(By best, I mean easy, foolproof, and works.)

    Ta!

The dvd bundled with your Eee pc has a back up image to boot from. There is also a hidden recovery partition you can access by pressing F9 during boot up.

I have a 4g model 701 and this info appears in section 6 - page 8 of the manual. Just curious, which model did you get ?

This is a second hand tip from someone who has done it:

    The Internal SSD = /dev/sda, the MicroSD = /dev/sdb

To copy between SSD and MicroSD
    dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev sdb bs=1M

    (or vice versa)
