SUSE displays sideways?HELP!!!

IDK what happened but I had my laptop turned sideways when it was turning on and idk but the screen is sideways.the taskbar is on the left of the screen and it sucks. The display is cropped. Help\. ITs hard to type and look at the screen upright. How can i FIX THIS? Its as if you rotated the screen 90 degrees clockwise. idk what to do. THanks

well, i'd assume the laptop has a sensing mechanism to determine up and
down...like a tablet-pc would..

and, i'd shut it down and then when rebooting i'd have it sitting level
with the bottom of the screen DOWN (unlike that quoted above)..

try it, and let us know how that worked out for you..

I rebooted multiple times on the right orientation. I also doubt my pc can sense it. ITs an 2005 Acer Aspire 5000

i am, therefore, out of ideas..

have you contacted Acer for help?? or, (i don't recall, and can't find
your initial posting...which i do NOT believe was in this [applications]
forum, as is this posting...FORUM ADMIN, why is that so...why is this
posting all alone, without a spawning thread, on NNTP??)

anyway, it is either a hardware OR a software issue: are you certain it
is a software/linux problem....that is, can you boot another OS and see
if it gets magically fixed??

what happens if you boot a live CD....have you tried Knoppix

When a thread is placed in the wrong section and a staff member moves
it, it breaks the threading in NNTP and therefore you will end up
missing the original posts.

ps (up front) this is intended to be a possibly helpful and certainly
friendly suggestion:

back in the dark ages when NNTP was the only game in town i'm pretty
sure it WAS possible to move entire threads from one spot to another
(AND, keep the threading intact)..

have we made so much 'progress' that that is now impossible?? i really
doubt it..

_perhaps_ breaking NNTP threading when moving a wrongly placed post is a
forum software limitation; or a forum administration software
limitation; either of which could/should be fixed..

and, if staff are gonna decide where posts should be placed, then i
suggest they also decide what the subject should have been, and change
those too (_without_ breaking the thread)..

or, maybe it would be better to have the staff decide where a post
should be _and_ what the subject should be *before* the initial post is
actually submitted to the forum.....and, during that time the user could
edit and/or withdraw it.......but, once ON the forum it stays where it
belongs, has a valid (useful) subject line and can't be changed..

Well, thanks a lot for trying to help, I appreciate that.Its good to know theres people out there spending their time trying to help put COMPLETE strangers. I came home from a 12 hour shift and hey guess what, its back to normal. Very odd. ALso, it was working fine on windows, just not on suse. The computer might of had sensed it I guess that it was sideways. Either way, thanks again and this thread is done!
