Thread: Carrying over Package Information

    Default Carrying over Package Information

I put a lot of time in my current configuration and I want to safe the package configuration. This way, I could later on do the same installation environment on a different machine without choosing each and every package. Is there a way to store the 'constellation' for usage on other computers?

    Best Regards

    Frank

Have a look at the System Restore option in Yast and see if this meets your needs.

In the YaST Software Management module there is an option to export a list of installed software, into an xml file. There is also an import function; I haven't used that so can't say exactly how that works.

Also, both the rpm and zypper commands can print out the contents of the package database. See the man pages.
