    Default Installing KTorrent 3

    im using openSUSE 11 and im wondering how to install ktorrent 3.1
    i read on the website it says...

    tar -xvjf ktorrent-3.X.Y.tar.bz2
    cd ktorrent-3.X.Y
    mkdir build
    cd build
    cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/path/to/prefix/of/kde4/installation ..
    make
    sudo make install

    im just wondering what you have to do with the bold part :S

    Why not just install from the rpm in the main OSS repo? There is also a
    version in the packman repo.

    i checked it and the latest version that was there is 3.0.2-22
    and for some reason that doesnt wana work on my computer...

    Checking webpin it looks like there is a 3.1 package in the KDE:Backport and KDE:unstable repos. You can try one of them and see if they work.

    o ok thanks heaps
    um i installed the one from Backport and i had the same problem as before...
    like, whats happening is when i try and open it, it just opens and closes straight away, i was hopeing that 3.1 will be different...
    do you know how to fix that?

    Try running it from the command line and post any errors it gives.

    um how do you do that? haha
    i just typed in "ktorrent" and no errors came up, it just opened and closed again... is that what i was supposed to do?
    haha sry i dnt really know much bout the command line

    Had similar problems until i used the factory version here

    oh okay
    well this is what i got...

    $ rpm -q ktorrent
    ktorrent-3.1-2.4

    $ ktorrent
    ktorrent(3824)/kdeui (K*Gesture*) KAction::setGlobalShortcut: Attempt to set global shortcut for action without objectName(). Read the setGlobalShortcut() documentation.
