suse 11 crash on laptop lid close

i cant understand why suse completely crashes when i close my laptop lid. running kde 3.5.9 and kpowersave configured laptop lid close as button event to do nothing… what else can i do to stop it? it’s annoying me. lol.

cheers.

I had the exact same experience immediately after a fresh 64-bit install. I however installed Gnome, so it seems this is not (only) related to KDE. I also tried to switch of all powersaving features (like dim display etc.) but the problem remained. Tried to remove compiz and related warez, problem still remained.

After struggling with this for a couple of days I moved back 64-bit install of 10.3 where I am having no problem at all (again using Gnome)…

Might take another look at 11.2 (unless someone managed to find out what the exact problem was)

I have TravelMate 4230, and (just for the record) lspci says:

couldn’t find anything there…

so bumping this thread…

is there anybody out there?

Hello.
I’ve the same problem. I configured kpowersave to do nothing if someone close the lid. But if I close the notebook, the system freeze unawakable and I have to reboot the whole system.
I have a HP 6910p with openSuSE 11.0, kernel 2.6.25.20 and KDE 3.5.9(49.1).

Hi, I had the same problem with my 6510b, but I found this:

Avoid Ubuntu Hardy 8.10 Freeze when lid is closed on HP 6510b | Linux | Informatica - Gabriele Vivinetto

Only substitute /etc/rc.d/boot.local for /etc/rc.local. It works great for me.

GL, P.

If it’s not too late to bump, I’m experiencing the same issue in 11.1 64bit KDE 4.1.3, my laptop a Compaq 6720s. After I close the lid everything remains jammed including the Caps Lock led.

My power profile is set to Lock Screen on lid close. This issue only happens sometimes however, when it doesn’t the screen locks and resumes correctly when I close / open the lid.
