Default Installed M-Audio Audiophile 192 (PCI) w/ OSS, need help

I installed the M-Audio Audiophile 192 today with the OSS package and am running into some problems.

the osstest works fine - reporting no errors. Here's the output:

    eric@linux-6slo:~> osstest

however, for some reason YaST won't configure the card as my primary sound card. It gives me this error when I try to run through configuration:

An error occured during the installation of

    VT1720/24 Envy24PT/HT] PCI Multi-Channel Audio Controller

The kernel module snd-ice1724 for sound support could not be loaded. This can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.

Basically, the tests work fine but Amarok and Banshee won't play anything out of the PCI card. I suspect I'm running into an issue with ALSA, but ALSA is not starting on boot. OSS seems to be properly configured, so any help with why YaST won't configure the card as my primary would be appreciated!

From a little bit of research, it appears that snd-ice1724 is an ALSA thing - like YaST is trying to force ALSA configuration when I don't have it/want it enabled.....

    again, thoughts are welcome
