Workaround for X server bug when using wide screen
Hi!
The X server version shipped with openSUSE 11 has a quite annoying bug:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12834
But the workaround I used in Ubuntu 7.10 does not work correctly in openSUSE 11. My monitor reports correctly 1680x1050@59, but the picture begins about 2 inches to the right. The "Auto set" feature of the monitor does not work. SaX just sucks, if I test the video mode, the mouse cursor jumps around on the screen and there's no possibility to use any of the buttons in the dialog that would allow to shift the picture.
Does anyone have a suggestion how to solve this problem? Is there a possibility to upgrade to X server 1.4?
Greetings,
Michael
