    Exclamation Reported CPU Usage

    hey all,
I'm getting a rediculous CPU usage at idle under OpenSuSE11 via gkrellm.
    System=
pIV @ 3.4 GHz dual core (not a current core2 duo tautolegy, but socket 478)
    3 GB RAM @ 400MHz
    Intel 915 Mobo
    ATI 9550 GPU
    1 x SATA WD1600AAJS (/ and /home)
    1 x SATA WD2500YS (/hame/tammy/storage)

Was getting steady 1-2% at idle under 10.3 on same system.

top shows beagle-helper at %98 cpu.

also kill 4318 (beagle helper) does not seem to work...

who is this beagle and why wont he go home!!1

Beagle is a resource-hog and might put your PC to a grinding halt! Beagle is a search daemon, but might render your PC useless until it's finished! If you don't regularly search for files, it's better to remove all the beagle bytes from your computer using Yast->Program manager search beagle and remove these bits. Without beagle your PC will soar like a rocket! I've also experienced beagle and removing it made my PC usable again.

Thanks for the quick response Tom2k,
With beagle removed CPU usage at idle is back to a normal %0-%1.

    Thanks again..

beagle when updated may be good for a new user.

But if you are comfortable on the command line I just use locate and | grep to modify it further for certain types of files
