opensuse 11 and virtualbox/vmware
hi
i'm runing suse 11 on my laptop
but it doesn't support my TV cardbus.
so i was wondering if i could solve this by installing windows xp with virtualbox or vmare.
so i can use my tv card.

VMware is <supposed> to give you sufficient access to accessories lie your cardbus slot and if it's possible VMware is probably your best best, but YMMV.
Probably best is to install Windows as your Host and SuSE as your Guest.

Yuk. Why would you make that recommendation?
rbrt222: Just have a go if you can't find the answer in the vbox documentation. Running suse as guest in a windows host really defeats the whole object. There are a host of VM options to try too, check them all out. At worst, I would say have duel boot XP and Suse.

Absolutely, yes.
Regardless how your personal preferences lean, the fact is that vendors develop far more and generally better Windows drivers than for any other OS, so until virtualization steps to the next generation and enables peripheral I/O direct access (rather than today when only CPU and RAM are granted direct access), the less risky configuration is a Windows Host.
