    Default openSUSE 11.0 without sound

Hi. I installed openSUSE 11.0, and one thing i noticed that the sound is not working. My sound card is a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum Pro. Because i never use openSUSE before, i doesn't know another way to install the drivers of sound, then went to the site Main Page - AlsaProject seek 3 packages needed to install alsa. The site explains how to install driver. But gave me error in the first package. Mistakes was giving the following.

    linux-tccr:/usr/src/alsa/alsa-driver-1.0.16 # make dep
    make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/alsa/alsa-driver-1.0.16/acore'
    copying file alsa-kernel/core/pcm_native.c
/usr/src/alsa/alsa-driver-1.0.16/utils/patch-alsa: line 22: patch: command not found
    make[1]: *** [pcm_native.c] Error 1
    make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/alsa/alsa-driver-1.0.16/acore'
    make: *** [dep] Error 1

I had already installed gcc, make and the kernel sources, when i installed the driver of graphics card, I doesn't know if i need anything else.
I hope you can help. :-)
    Thanks.

    Hi,

You prolly already have sound (it should be auto-configured) but it's simply outputting to optical, please take a peek here:
    [Solution] Creative Audigy 1/2 + 11.0 + KDE/GNOME + ALSA - openSUSE Forums
If you use KDE, scroll the thread down.

If it fails: go to YAST / Sound to configure it. Come back with more information and we'll see what we can do.

Arrow Re: openSUSE 11.0 without sound

I used the toubleshooting guide (somewhere on opensuse.org) and added the multimedia repository ( Index of /repositories/multimedia:/audio/openSUSE_11.0) I then uninstalled all my alsa packages and replaced them with the repo packages and rebooted. I made sure to include the openal-alsa-emu10k1 and the kernel packages corresponding to mine (use uname -a to check) I have an sb audigy 2 card. I also rebooted.
