Default Why I do not have the splash screen while booting

    Hello everyone~

I installed openSUSE11 using the iso image... and i don't know why the splash screen gone

my laptop screen is 1280x800, I find the default vga=0x31a is wrong in /boot/grub/menu.lst, I change it to 0x361 which means
    1280x800x32bpp....

Does the splash screen need 16bpp? but i can not find which number means that.

    who can help me... thanks

And sorry for my bad english

I set vga=0x317(1024x768x16) in menu.lst and use the command 'mkinitrd -s 1024x768', it works
