    Default Update install results

OK, I've tried several approaches to updating. Mixed results. Generally,
it works OK but with a few annoying glitches.

    Summary: 10.2 -> 11.0
Several dependency issues but none that are show stoppers or obvious breaks.
Most of the problems are with add-on stuff and codecs, etc. Painless
enough and worth a try if you have things installed that would be hard to
re-build. I have DB2 V9.5 on the 10.2 test box and it survived the update
    intact and running.

    10.3 - 11.0
Both the DVD and network install work but the network install does a better
job IF you add the additional repositories and have a fast network to reach
the install sources. It's a 3.1GB download to update a pretty much generic
10.3 install with only KDE3 installed - ouch! Some funny stuff is different
between the DVD and network update - the network update leaves the Factory
Update icon in Yast while the DVD doesn't.

    Common:
Samba config gets hosed. I still haven't gotten the test bench group
working right. I suspect that it's going to be a start from scratch effort
    there.

Both the DVD and network updates muck up the Yast Community Repo function -
totally missing in the 10.3 -> 11.0 tests. and the Factory Update
mysteriously appears on the panel in the 10.2 -> 11.0 tests. It may just be
the current rush, but the network path required several "retry" clicks when
it temporarily lost a connection, timed out, or got a bad d/l.

    Conclusion:
The update path from 10.2 and 10.3 is usable with minor hiccups that are no
big deal. The clean install is still the best path (the consensus of all
the threads discussing the topic) unless you have a very good reason for
    for doing the update.

Question: anybody know how t get the Community repo item back into the Yast
menu? That is one handy feature, especially when you have a room full of
    machines to work thru.

Thanks - I was looking for the button that was there in 10.2/3 and never
thought to try that step. Works like a champ - once you find it - or was
that the way it always was and I just got spoiled?
