kcminit_startup. What exactly is it?

And why is it using over 50% memory 10 minutes after my system is running, slowing my system to a crawl. I've been killing it, seeming without ill effect, i.e. my mouse, keyboard and everything else still seem to work, but that's annoying and shouldn't be necessary

~> kcminit_startup --list
returns:
khotkeys
mouse
energy
keys
keyboard
style
khtml_plugins
kgamma
arts
kcmaccess
bell

Could one of these modules be not properly initializing? How do I debug this?

Anybody? Mandriva and Fedora don't seem to have this problem.
