    Default new server

    hi, i need help for a server project.
    we plan a pc-based server with 2 xeon quadcore with 1,86 Ghz each. 4 harddisks in a raid 5 array 500 GB each.
    2 opt drives dvd burner, LG GSA-H58N or LG GSA-H62N.
    Op system is planned as suse linux 11.
    My question: can the Linux handel the dvd correctly?
    Do i need a special driver?

    If they're normal IDE/ATA DVD burners they should work out of the box and after a quick Google they are indeed so.

    All optical drives that conform to the MMC standards (pretty much all of them nowadays) will work with Linux. PATA, SATA, all fine.
