    Default Amarok or Banshee

Well, I've seen a lot of discussion on Banshee and Amarok in the applications area, and I thought it would be cool to ask the question: which do you prefer, Banshee or Amarok. Also, does anyone use Amarok on Gnome or Banshee on KDE? Just a good discussion on the pros and cons of each media player.

So with that, which do you prefer?

Amarok is the best media player I've used on any platform. I love the internet integration, the context views, the library features, etc.

Basic video playing is a nice new feature, and I'm not sure why people insist a music player must be separate from a video player.

The only feature I'd like to see added is to use a samba/cifs/nfs share as your music collection. I have to mount it to /media/foo instead, and I can't get that to mount automatically at boot despite a fstab entry.

Banshee is a very limited player in comparison to Amarok.
Is there anything banshee can do that Amarok cannot do? I'm
    not aware of it.

What I really want is a merge of Kaffeine and Amarok so I
can have just one super player.

Somewhere I have the feeling this question is also along the lines of KDE or GNOME?

One has many advanced features, the other is just nice and simple and also has the power to do what it should.

I saw another thread where rythembox was recommend over these two.. no experience there though.
    Have a lot of fun!

Personally, I've always liked Amarok over anything. I've used both rythembox and Banshee, but nothing compares to Amarok. Amarok is like an all-in-one music center, whereas the others are more basic. I also used a program called Songbird, which is still in pre-beta I believe, but looks really promising. If songbird continues as it has, that will be better than even Amarok in my opinion.

If I didn't like things super simple, I would use Amarok. It has a lot of features that I can see someone used to iTunes/etc. would like; and I think it looks nice with the QT toolkit.

I, however, use xmms (forgive me) or qmmp.

Never found anything better than Amarok yet. However, that is just my
personal opinion. Linux is sometimes described as a lifestyle and IMHO, so
it is. So use the player that gives you the best feel.

Is this the new Holy War? Or is it just a subset of the gnome vs kde one?

Personally, I use Amarok everywhere. (Though I'll admit that I'm mostly a kde guy) I use it because I like the interface.
