Rewarding Good Answers

Do you sometimes wish you had a way to really say "thanks" to that person that answered your question? The best way is to give them reputation points. When you are reading a specific message and want to give reputation points to the poster, click on the REP. button (or the scales icon in the basic skin).

This will do two things: Let the poster know you appreciate his work and let others know this person gives good answers.

If you want to highlight an entire thread as something valuable/useful/insightful *or* as something that isn't helpful at all, use the RATE THREAD link while viewing the thread. This will put rating indicators on the thread list for everyone to see.

The more community members use these functions, the more valuable they will become. Thanks!

No, this functionality is only available via web as the NNTP protocol
doesn't support it.

FYI here are the reputation levels:

REPUTATION LEVELS:

User is infamous around these parts -99999
User can only hope to improve -50
User has a little shameless behaviour in the past -10
User is an unknown quantity at this point 0
User is on a distinguished road 10 (new users start with this level)
User will become famous soon enough 50
User has a spectacular aura about 150
User is a jewel in the rough 250
User is just really nice 350
User is a glorious beacon of light 450
User is a name known to all 550
User is a splendid one to behold 650
User has much to be proud of 1000
User has a brilliant future 1500
User has a reputation beyond repute 2000
